Excellent to see this on your site. I've just changed the same turbo pipe today on my diesel cruiser, about the same experience, full of oily tar. However the pipe wasn't burst.
The garage reported an oil leak to me from this point on the car. So that why I changed the pipe. But looks like a build up of tar from the egr system. Dread to think what the intercooler is like!
I'm still trying to get the info straight in my mind with this so I can put and 'egr delete' (as they call it ) to effectively take the piping off and clean out the system.
Once clear I hope to do a guide like yours and pass it on to the thedux.com as they have a great pt cruiser workshop section.
Guide above looks great , it s hard to take pics as your going along, especially when your covered in oil, trying to figure things out!

I got a workshop manual from ebay which covers most of the cruiser parts and servicing on cd £2.50 Absolute bargin!

Keep with it, great cars for the money just need a few fixes to keep them good and sometimes improved!

Great advice thanks , another little tip is to use little bicycle tyre irons for the fine adjustments once gaiter is fitted and to use a little rubber solution on the toe to stop from slipping off. A cheap pound shop cycle repair kit works a treat.
